World Children's Day - 11.20.2024

World Children's Day is quickly approaching on November 20th, 2024. Founded by UNICEF, World's Children's Day is a "global day of action for children, by children" that celebrates the Convention on the Rights of the Child. On this day, children and youth around the world are given the opportunity to share their vision for a better future, one where every child's rights are protected.

"...children are not just objects who belong to their parents and for whom decisions are made, or adults in training. Rather, they are human beings and individuals with their own rights. The Convention says childhood is separate from adulthood, and lasts until 18; it is a special, protected time, in which children must be allowed to grow, learn, play, develop and flourish with dignity. The Convention went on to become the most widely ratified human rights treaty in history and has helped transform children’s lives."

                               - UNICEF: What is the Convention and what needs to happen?

Children have a fundamental right to be heard and protected. Unfortunately, children involved in the child welfare system are vulnerable to having their rights disregarded or pushed aside. Our team of CASA volunteers advocate for children's voices to be uplifted each and every day, within the courtroom and our communities.

We cultivate environments where children and youth feel safe to express their needs and desires, and with this information we are able to advocate for the future that they deserve. You can join this international mission to protect children's rights by supporting your local CASA program today.
